About This Trip
The Khai Islands are three tiny islands — Khai Nai, Khai Nok, and Khai Nui — sitting in shallow, fish-filled water just 40 minutes from Royal Phuket Marina. These islands are famous for their gentle, shallow water and the extraordinary number of friendly fish that swarm around the reefs. It's the best destination near Phuket for families with children and anyone who wants an easy, joyful snorkeling experience.
Khai Nai is the largest of the three, with a small beach, a few food stalls, and snorkeling right off the sand. Khai Nok is smaller and more secluded, with a beautiful sandbar and clear water perfect for wading. Khai Nui is a rocky outcrop with no beach but excellent snorkeling on its reef.
What makes the Khai Islands special is the fish. The shallow reefs around these islands are teeming with tropical fish — so many that they'll swim right up to you. Children are always delighted, and even non-swimmers can stand in the shallow water and feed the fish from the surface.
Your captain can take you to all three islands in a single trip, letting you snorkel, beach-hop, and relax. The travel time between islands is just 5-10 minutes, so you'll spend most of your day in the water rather than on the boat.
We recommend the Khai Islands for families with young children, nervous swimmers, or anyone who wants a fun, easy, fish-filled day. Bring bread or bananas to feed the fish — they'll love it.
